Recollections from Alex

Weekly Wage was One pound twelve and sixpence for the 48 hour week. Monday to Friday was 7.30 am, one hour lunch, knockoff at 5 pm. Saturday 7.30 am to 1 pm.

First position was as a junior cellar hand in the winery.

Saw war service in the RAN during 1942 to 1946. Returned to winery in 1946 and left in January 1948.

Following this Alex worked for a Oil Company for 20 years and 11 years with a Liquor Company.

Alex and his wife live in retirement at Mount Gambier SA.
