Harold Edward Harris

Born 1917- Passed in 1990

Harrold was nicknamed Happy by the boys and girls at the winery.

He served in the AIF 2/48th Tobruk,1939-41, rank of Sergeant and was senior(all oficers killed) when hit by a round and lost an eye and sufferred damage to right cheek. Invalided home after successful surgery.

Joined Excise Dpartment in 1942 and married Betty in 1943.

At Waikerie for 1942 vintage. Officer in charge was a very good mentor to "Happy"

McLaren Vale for 1944-1946

To Angaston for 1947-1949. Arthur Hall and Peter Lehmann

To Berri in 1950, lived at 14 Crawford Tce.

To Nuriootpa 1957-1967, then Waikerie in 1968 and then to Adelaide in 1969 and worked from there.

"Happy" was instrumental in Len Schell deciding to join the Excise.
